About Sarah
Sarah Peters is a UNR-educated environmental engineer; she works to ensure our water and other resources are protected. She is a native Nevadan, and a working mom with three children: Isabelle (9), Castiel (7), and Rose (5). She is the primary provider for her household. Her husband, Matt, is a Marine veteran who served three combat tours in Iraq and has been a stay-at-home dad; he is now working part-time and going back to school. While environmental issues are her expertise, she has also been active in the local community for years on a number of different causes and issues.
Sarah is a project manager at McGinnis and Associates Environmental, a local firm specializing in environmental science, engineering, and interagency project leadership. Among other projects, Sarah works with the Yerington Paiute Tribe, fighting to hold BP accountable for cleanup of the poisoned groundwater and soil from the Anaconda mine Superfund site that’s been in the news. She works with local, Tribal, state and federal governments on toxic waste management, monitoring; regulatory issues; planning and technical support; and general environmental consulting.
With national politics being what they are, we must create environmental protections at the state level in Nevada. Sarah has the background and experience we need at the legislature so that we can fight back hard, and effectively.
